Andres Machuca Marcos was born in Navalmoral de la Mata (Cáceres), Spain, in 1996. He graduated in Chemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2018. In the same year, he also did an internship at the Confocal Microscopy Unit of the Spanish National Cancer Center (CNIO), where he was trained in fluorescence confocal microscopy techniques. In 2019, he carried out a Master´s Degree in Chemical Science and Technology at the same university under the supervision of Jose L. Luque-Garcia, working on the synthesis, characterization and evaluation of rhodium nanoparticles as potential photosensitizing agent in photodynamic therapy against cancer. In 2019, he joined the Bioanalytical Chemistry Group to carry out his PhD under the supervision of Jose L. Luque-Garcia and Estefania Garcia-Calvo. In 2021, he obtained a predoctoral fellowship from Complutense University and Banco Santander to continue with his PhD. His current research focuses on the development of rhodium-based nanosystems with potential as photosensitizing agents in photodynamic therapy.
